The Education Funding Agency has appointed Wates preferred bidder to deliver the latest batch of Priority School Building Programme schools worth £78m in London.

Coventry University has chosen Bam Construction to deliver its new £33m Science and Health Building, Construction News understands.
The five-storey research facility will consolidate Coventry University’s existing science laboratory and health simulation facilities into one building, and extend the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences’ ability to offer state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research.

Willmott Dixon has appointed former Education Funding Agency director Mike Coleman as its new education sector director.
Mr Coleman was previously the EFA’s director of programme delivery and oversaw the delivery of around £2bn of capital investment a year on behalf of the Department for Education.

A report into the fire that destroyed an uncompleted GlaxoSmithKline building in Nottingham has said contractor Morgan Sindall had complied with health and safety regulations.
The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service report found that an electrical fault was “the most probable cause” of the blaze that tore through the £20m timber-framed laboratory last September.
