BDP wins planning for football stadium regeneration

BDP’s £50 million regeneration of Plymouth Argyle Football Club’s stadium has secured planning permission. The plans, which include a new grandstand, an ice rink, a cinema and a hotel, were approved by the city council on 15 August. The proposals also include landscape enhancements in Central Park including creation of tree-lined routes; changing rooms for youth sports field users; and ‘statement gateways’. Stadium facilities will be upgraded for supporters.

Willmott Dixon looks for South Tyneside subcontractors

Willmott Dixon is looking to place 30% of work with local subcontractors when its £12m new community centre job in South Tyneside gets underway later this month. South Tyneside Council chose Willmott Dixon for its new Hebburn community hub back in January. Construction is now set to start on the scheme which will include a 25 metre swimming pool, library and learning centre.

Rydon appointed by the London Borough of Camden for Gospel Oak scheme

Rydon has been appointed to a £50m regeneration of a London estate under the first of a two-stage tender by the London Borough of Camden. A fixed price will be submitted in January 2014 for the contract to rebuild the Bacton Low Rise estate in Gospel Oak, the first time the council has built new homes for rent in 20 years. The existing estate will be demolished, making room for 290 new homes comprising 176 for private sale, 104 for affordable rent and 10 for shared ownership. Other improvements include a new and altered public realm, landscaping, vehicular and pedestrian links as well as three new retail units. Demolition will start in August with construction commencing at the end of 2013, which will be staged across three phases and built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The project is due for completion at the end of 2017.

Derwent to start on schemes worth £119m
Developer Derwent London has confirmed a £119m pipeline of projects where construction is due to start within the next twelve months. The biggest scheme is the £100m White Collar Factory office scheme in Old Street which is set to start on site early in 2014. Derwent currently has £72m of schemes under construction and medium term plans to start on another 620,000 sq ft of new space in 2015/16
