Thames Water names £177m Deephams rebuild winner

An Aecom Murphy Kier joint venture has been named as the winner of a £177m deal to rebuild one of London’s largest sewage works. The AMK joint venture has beaten rivals Tamesis (Laing O’Rourke and Imtech Process) to the deal.

London universities hesitate on BIM due to cost concerns

Estates directors at London’s leading universities have admitted they are hesitant about using building information modelling on projects due to concerns over costs. Directors of the London School of Economics and Queen Mary, University of London, said they had concerns over using BIM on capital projects.

Mark Elliot to depart retirement housebuilder after little more than a year in charge

McCarthy & Stone has announced that chief executive Mark Elliott, who oversaw the company’s £527m refinancing last year, will leave the company at the end of February 2014. In the financial year to 31 August, the company recorded revenue growth of 21 per cent to £310.8m and posted a 15 per cent increase in EBITDA to £46m.

Former ISG construction MD joins Willmott Dixon

Exclusive: Former ISG construction managing director Craig Tatton has joined Willmott Dixon as a managing director for housing. Mr Tatton left ISG in May “to pursue other career opportunities” and was replaced at the firm by former Balfour Beatty rail director and general manager Alan McCarthy-Wyper. As Willmott Dixon housing managing director, Mr Tatton will cover regions including parts of London and the Home Counties, alongside Dave Issott.He replaces Tim Carpenter in the role, who left the firm several months ago.
