Phase 2 of airport refurbishment awarded

SPIE, the independent European leader in electrical and mechanical engineering and HVAC services, energy and communication systems, has today announced that its Building Services division has been awarded the second phase of the Terminal Transformation project at Stansted Airport. The project will see SPIE UK providing services infrastructure to 46 new retail outlet units, which will be completed over three phases. The Building Services team will provide construction, mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing services to the retail spaces, as part of phase two of Stansted¿s £80 million redevelopment plan to transform the existing space and provide travellers with a first class retail experience. The transformation has already seen the development of a state of the art security area and promises a complete redesign of the international departure lounge, providing additional latest design seating areas, together with an extensive variety of the UK¿s favourite shops and restaurants for customers.

Plans submitted for £100m development

New plans have been submitted for a £100 million mixed development at the Newgate Centre in Newcastle by McAleer & Rushe. The current buildings will be demolished to make way for a 250-bed hotel, with around 30,000sq ft of space for retail, restaurant and leisure uses on the basement and ground floor, with office space on the first four floors. Work on the two new buildings on the site will create up to 750 construction jobs.

Sainsbury's near completion

Work is scheduled to complete on site imminently for a scheme by J Sainsbury Plc at 2 Engaine Drive in Shenley Church End, Milton Keynes. The confirmed end date for this scheme is 16th June 2014. The main contractors, Longcross Construction Services, started this scheme, the fit-out of the new Sainsbury's supermarket of 3,510sqm, on 31st March 2014. CHQ Partnership Ltd are the architects who designed this £2 million scheme.

Contractor completes Adsa

Work has now completed on site for a scheme by Asda Stores Ltd at St. Georges Road and Holme Well Road in Middleton, Leeds. RG Group Ltd completed this scheme on 10th May 2014. The scheme comprised of the construction of an Asda supermarket of 6,365sqm, a detached office/warehouse unit and a petrol filling station. WCEC Architects were the architects who designed this £4.1 million scheme.
